Junior Match Results - Summer 2011

Hoole LTC Juniors have been incredibly busy over the 2011 summer season, with a total of 73 fixtures and a massive total of 260 singles matches and more than 100 doubles matches! We have played in the Aegon competition (the team tennis competition organised by the LTA and played against other clubs within the county), the Chester & District League and the Wirral League, with our 14&U team finishing as the winners of the Chester League competition. We had teams in every age group, from 8&U to 18&U, and 57 of our Junior members respresented the Club during the season, with several juniors playing in more than one team.

Well Done & Thank You to everyone who has played in 2011!!

The results for each age group are as follows:

- Mini Reds (8&Under) finished 2nd out of 5 teams in Aegon, losing only to Ellesmere Port, the winners of the group.

- Mini Oranges (9&Under) finished 3rd out of 4 teams in Aegon.

- Mini Greens (10&Under) finished 3rd out of 6 teams in Aegon, while in the Wirral League the A Team finished 3rd in Division 1 and the B Team finished 2nd in Division 2 - so next year we should have 2 teams in Division 1.

- 12&Under Boys finished 2nd out of 3 teams in Aegon and 12&U Mixed team finished 5th out of 5 teams in Division 1 of the Wirral League against some very tough opposition - so we will probably be in Division 2 of this league next year.

- 14&Under Boys finished 2nd out of 6 teams in Aegon, losing only to Ellesmere Port, the winners of the group, and 14&Under Girls finished 3rd out of 5 teams in Aegon. 14&Under Mixed team finished winners of the Chester League - WELL DONE 14&U TEAM - and 3rd out of 5 teams in the Wirral League.

- 16&Under Boys finished 3rd out of 6 teams in Aegon despite having the same number of points as the winner and runner up - all our matches had gone to tie-break shoot-out deciders and the final positions came down to "match difference". 16&Under Mixed team finished 2nd out of 5 teams in the Chester League.

- 18&Under Boys finished 3rd out of 4 teams in Aegon and reached the semi-final stage of the Monkhouse Shield (Boys Doubles competition) - the semi-final was against Congleton (last year's winners of the competition) and it was 2-2 after the 4 doubles matches had been played so we were into a deciding and nail-biting final set which sadly we lost 6-8. 18&Under Mixed team faced tough opposition in Division 1 of the Wirral League and finished 5th out of 6 teams, so we will probably be in Division 2 of this league next season.

Congratulations and a huge thank you to all the Juniors who have played for the Club during 2011.
A massive thank you as well to all the parents for transporting and supporting the players and helping with organising and running the matches on match day - we couldn't do it without you!!

In addition to the team tennis, 26 Hoole Juniors took part in the Hoole Junior & Senior Open Tournament that was held at the beginning of August. For many this was the first time they had played in a tournament and they all did really well against some much more experienced players. Hoole LTC was also represented at the County Championships at the end of August with 5 of our Juniors taking part - Alex Matijasevich (8&U Boys), Katie Merrick (12&U Girls Doubles, 12&U Mixed Doubles, 14&U Girls Singles and 14&U Girls Doubles), Saleem Rizvi (14&U Boys), Jamal Rizvi (16&U Boys) and Richard Speed (14&U Boys). Congratulations to all of them and especially to Katie who won the 12&U Girls Doubles, was runner-up in the 12&U Mixed Doubles and reached the semi-final of the 14&U Girls Doubles, and to Alex and Richard who reached the quarter finals of their events.

Keep practising over the winter so that you're ready for more matches next season!!
